It was not long after the delivery of the first batch of Aadhaar cards, applicants and UIDAI noticed that there were lots of unintentional mistakes in the details mentioned on the Aadhaar card and on the UIDAI database. This Lead the UIDAI to provide applicants with an option to edit the Aadhaar card details in case of any changes or mistakes.
Corrections can be done through both online and offline methods, But the online method correction is limited to only Address and nothing else if the applicant or the cardholder needs to update or correct the details like phone number, date of birth, email, biometric data etc. The cardholder will have to visit the Aadhaar enrolment center and fill-up the update form and make the changes. PS: The online method can be used only in case of correction in the address, and it can be done only if you have a registered mobile number.
Here is the step by step procedure for correcting the Aadhaar information online.
Step 1: Visit UIDAI official website or instead click here https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: On the home screen page, you can find a heading that says “Aadhaar Online Services” and 3 sub-headings below it in different coloured boxes “Aadhaar Enrolment”, “Aadhaar Update”, and “Aadhaar Services”. Under the “Aadhaar Update” sub-heading, you can find an option “Address Update Request Online”, Select this option or click here instead https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update
Step 3: Now, you will get a fill-up page with a heading “Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal”. Enter your Aadhar card number and the code as displayed in the Captcha as requested on the form.
Step 4: Now, click the “send OTP” button. The server will send an OTP code to your registered number. Check the registered mobile and
Step 5: Enter the OTP as received, below on the page and proceed.
Step 6: Now, the page will redirect you to a new fill-up form, the resident should select the field that needs to get updated.
Step 7: Fill in the details accurately, please double check all the details entered. Once, you have complete the fill-in form and submitted the form, the process is almost complete,
Step 8: A URN will be generated and a new page will appear.
Step 9: Now you have to choose a BPO service provider from the list and then click on “Submit” button.
Step 10: Once, you press the submit button; you will be asked to upload the proof documents and you have to upload the documents that could be verified so that the correction you need will be done. Example, if it is your address that needs to be corrected, upload the address proof document that mentions the updated permanent address.
Step 11: Now, you can download a copy of the updated details for future reference.
Step 12: The UNR number will be produced in this procedure, save this number; you will need this URN to track the status of updating.
